Your Ancestors Did This.
No matter where on Earth you are from: Asia. Africa. Europe. The Americas. Oceania – if we go back far enough, all of us have ancestors who practiced nature-based Rites of Passage – spending time alone, in the wilderness, fasting, with the support of a tribe or community that would help them to leave behind one phase of life, and step into the next.
We live in a world of uninitiated men.
Our world is ruled by boys walking around in the bodies of men. “Men” who have never been initiated into manhood. They think that life is about themselves, that nature is something to take from.
They don’t realize that a boy is taken care of, in part so that he can grow up to give back and offer his gifts to his community as a man. They never had the elders to help them understand.
The modern world is not designed for you to live your purpose.
It is an act of true courage to step away – far from the distractions, traffic, technology, and notifications – to finally, hear your inner truth clearly. And for many men, this is a breath of fresh air that they had no idea they were so deprived of.

Our legacy of this Rite of Passage originated from the vision of Stephen Foster back in the 1980’s. Created as a solution to the loss of traditional rites of passage from many of our ancestral lines, Vision Fast made its way into the Rising Man community over 40 years, passed from one generation to the next.
The Compass Guide Team is composed of men who are fathers, husbands, community leaders, and wilderness experts. Each Certified Compass Guide has completed our 2-year Apprenticeship and supported numerous Compass groups.

Core Stages:
Your Compass Journey is Composed of 3 Distinct Stages
Severance - “Final Paragraph of Current Chapter”
Preparing for “death”. In Severance, you will take inventory of everything in your life up until this moment, letting go of the patterns, habits, and beliefs that have held you back to make room for what’s next. We revisit your story until now, to understand how you came into this world and look back at how your life has unfolded. In Severance are 2 months of guided preparation, including group calls, interaction with Compass guides, and connection with the other men in your Compass group.
Threshold - “In Between Chapters”
Sometimes referred to as the “Cocoon” phase or “in between worlds”…this is the 4 days and nights you will spend solo, in the wilderness, without food. This is where the magic happens. Never before have you left behind all your creature comforts to spend time alone and get clear on your vision and the man you will become.
Incorporation - “Beginning a New Chapter”
Incorporation begins the moment you return back to basecamp at first light of the 5th day. Incorporation lasts a lifetime – and is about taking your newfound clarity and direction and weaving it back into your life. The modern world is not designed to support an initiated man living his purpose (yet!)…but, we’ve got your back. Compass concludes with 2 months of support to help you integrate your experience back into your life at home.
AND, a lifetime membership to our IMOC community (Initiated Men of Compass), where you will have access to group calls, workshops, and events to support your Incorporation journey, always.
